The best option to stay during the festival are guesthouses located close to the watch sites. This is a very authentic experience, whereby you get to know the local culture while enjoying the migration from the terrace of your guesthouse.
In 2010 BRC created a network of guesthouses run by local families, where visitors can stay for a modest fee. The owners of the guesthouses were provided with the training. From 2015 till 2016 the guesthouses were run by the tour company Batumi Birding. Since 2017 the guesthouses are independently managed and organized on their own.
At the moment, there are 28 guesthouses on the territory of Ajara, 26 in Sakhalvasho in Chaisubani (Shuamta). They provide accommodation and catering services for tourists. The average length of birdwatching tourist stays in Ajara – from 15 days to 2 months. The average cost of living in the village - 15-20 euros (40-60 GEL).
